Because repetition really is the key to learning! 💬✨
If you’ve ever peeked into one of our sessions, you’ve probably noticed our therapists repeating certain phrases a lot. That’s no accident! In therapy, repetition helps children feel safe, confident, and ready to participate. The more they hear familiar language, the easier it becomes to understand and use it themselves.
Here are a few of the things our team says on repeat and why they matter!
1. “Your turn!” 🙌
Turn-taking is one of the simplest ways to build early communication skills, social awareness, and patience. Whether it’s a game, a puzzle, or a conversation, taking turns teaches kids that communication is a back-and-forth exchange.
2. “I like how you’re trying!” 💛
We love celebrating effort, not just success. This phrase encourages perseverance and builds confidence, reminding kids that progress happens one small step (or try!) at a time.
3. “Let’s do it together.” 🫶
Sometimes new skills feel big or overwhelming. This phrase helps kids feel supported and connecte,d turning challenges into teamwork and stress into success.
4. “First ___, then ___.” ⏱️
Structure helps kids understand what’s expected and what comes next. You’ll hear this one a lot:
“First clean up, then bubbles!”“First puzzle, then snack!”It’s a simple, effective way to build routines, cooperation, and predictability.
5. “Wow, you did it!” 🎉
Positive reinforcement goes a long way. Even the smallest successes deserve celebration because feeling proud is one of the best motivators for learning.
Why It Works
Kids thrive on consistency, encouragement, and connection. By repeating simple, supportive phrases, our therapists create a safe space where children know what to expect and feel empowered to keep growing.
At More Than Speech, every “your turn!” and “you did it!” adds up to something powerful: confidence, communication, and progress that lasts long after the session ends. 💬🌟
