Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
Mattie is a Speech Language Pathology Assistant at More Than Speech and holds a license through the Florida Department of Health to practice speech pathology in the state of Florida. Mattie graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and a minor in American Sign Language.
Throughout her undergraduate experience, she participated in volunteer opportunities at the Unified Clinics, where she engaged in clinical training experience with adult clients diagnosed with Aphasia, Apraxia of Speech, Dysphagia and Traumatic Brain Injury. She also was an active member in the National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association at WMU. Mattie has gained experience working with children of various ages and disorders in a range of settings including daycares, public and private schools, private clinics, and non-profit organizations. She has had the opportunity to provide interventions to a wide range of diagnoses including Down Syndrome, Apraxia of Speech, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, auditory processing disorders, expressive and receptive language delays, and articulation/phonological disorders. Mattie has received specialty training in The Play Project, which provides therapists with effective intervention methods for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Mattie is passionate about applying individualized, engaging and functional therapeutic approaches in her sessions to support and foster a child’s communication abilities, independence and overall well-being. She is devoted to working closely with the children and their families to provide the highest quality of care.
