What is Occupational Therapy?

A pediatric occupational therapist (OT) works on cognitive, physical, and motor skills as well as sensory regulation and school readiness to help children become more independent. OT can be very beneficial for children who might be struggling with everyday fine and gross motor tasks like using a toothbrush, catching a ball, and organizing a backpack. It can also help children who struggle with self-regulation, attending and sensory processing. There are many skills occupational therapy targets, including, but not limited to: attention, school readiness, sensory processing, gross motor, fine motor, emotional regulation, self-help, picky eating, motor planning, handwriting, play skills, and social engagement.

What is Speech & Language Therapy?

A pediatric speech language pathologist (SLP) works with children to develop the communication skills they need to function optimally in their environment. Impaired communication can be due to receptive, or expressive language skills, speech delays, or difficulty with social skills.
