Kathleen is a certified occupational therapy assistant at More Than Speech. She holds her certification to practice occupational therapy through the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy and is licensed to practice occupational therapy in the state of Florida. She graduated from Keiser University with an Associate of Occupational Therapy degree and is currently completing her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies.
Kathleen has gained experience working as an occupational therapy assistant in a variety of settings including the school system, home environment and prescribed pediatric extended care for medically fragile children. She has had the opportunity to work providing interventions to a wide range of diagnoses including: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, developmental delays, lack of coordination, sensory processing disorder and more.
She is a trained and certified therapist in the AEIOU Systematic Approach to Pediatric Feeding, which is an holistic approach to feeding therapy that emphasizes active participation, independence, and shared control by helping children learn to explore food resulting in enjoyable eating during mealtimes. Kathleen has also received hands-on training in early intervention, Handwriting Without Tears (HWT), and total sensory integration.
Throughout Kathleen’s experience, she tailors her sessions to be client centered allowing the children to engage in a creative personalized environment to suit their specific needs. Kathleen’s experience shows her dedication to providing excellent care through making a positive impact fostering the skills needed for the children to become independent in their development.
